Isabelle T. Ross was the daughter of Charles and Helen Ross. She was born and raised in Harrisburg in the Sibletown neighborhood along with her siblings Andrew Leroy, Charles, Helen and Ora.
She raised 5 sons: Oliver, Gary, Jay, Dennis & Brad. Family was very important to the Ross family and Sunday dinner was held at the family house on Monroe Street every Sunday after church at the Monroe Street Church of God until the house was destroyed in Hurricane Agnes in 1972.
This is about the time that she lost her sight and she was helping Gary with his children while he was off in the Vietnam War. She would teach her granddaughter, Kim, how to cook by sitting at the kitchen table in The William Howard Day Projects and take her through each recipe, some that were remembered and some that were in a cookbook. This was truly a bonding time for the two of them. She passed in 1983, but I truly cherished and think fondly of this time we spent together.
Over the years our family has loved cooking for family and friends at our family home.
This is our Thank You to this amazing Lady, Isabelle T. Ross, for teaching, nurturing and loving on us.
